Capabilities.
We offer a wide range of services from surveying and designing to building and maintaining.
Geographical Site Assessment
& Risk Management.
Initial land surveys help us determine the best site location for build and/or assess the feasibility of a pre-selected area. We use commercial survey equipment to determine GPS, elevations, distances and angles between potential activities and/or platforms. Our team of ISA certified arborists conduct tree assessments and Picus Sonar testing to determine tree strength and health. We also conduct detailed risk assessments to identify and analyze potential events that may negatively affect individuals, assets or the environment and develop risk management strategies to control, reduce and eliminate related consequences.
Design & Concept Development.
Development of a project plan and detailed design of all infrastructure ensures alignment and success. This process builds on an initial site assessment as well as discussions and meetings to understand your goals, budget and design vision. Depending on the unique needs of your project it may include a range of activities, such as:
Infrastructure design (e.g. buildings, bridges, platforms, exit trails, etc.)
Natural landmark/tree identification and inspection
Map and layout creation
Sketches, renderings and/or similar visualization design
Material selection
Project plan development, including activities, timeline, team, etc.
Additional formal site planning as needed to support permitting requirements
Engineering, Fabrication
& Installation.
Safety is our first priority throughout the build process. Our experts in civil, structural and geotechnical engineering ensure that every component is safe and able to withstand years of heavy outdoor use. We are dedicated to conservation and sustainability, ensuring that all of our developments protect the natural ecosystem. With a focus on luxury, we produce structures that are on brand, visually stunning and naturally aesthetic. This process includes a range of activities, such as:
Cable sag analysis
Design and engineering of all physical components
Material fabrication, including manufacturing of customized steel and wood elements
Assembly, aggregation and transportation of all materials and equipment
Landscape preparation (e.g. clearing and installation of ground trails for ingress/egress, platform footing preparation, etc.)
Installation and physical infrastructure build
Installation and tuning of all tension wire cables
Painting, staining and application of all finishings
Documentation development to support permitting requirements
Safety Inspection & Certification.
Thorough safety testing of all materials and infrastructure is personally led by Umgawa’s Chief Engineering & Safety Officer. Upon build completion, we deliver a detailed safety inspection report and recommendations for ongoing and continued safety and maintenance. We also provide materials and documentation to support application for US, EN and other international certifications. Separately, we also conduct safety inspections and develop recommendations for existing structures not built by Umgawa.
Standard Operating Procedures
& Personal Protection Equipment.
To ensure commercial success, the physical build must be supported by proper personal protection equipment (PPE) and complementary operating policies and procedures. Umgawa can support the development and implementation of these components as needed. We can also assist you with marketing strategies and guidelines for profitability.
Sky Ranger Training
& Certification.
Umgawa’s Sky Ranger training and certification program is used at nature attractions internationally to ensure guest safety and proper infrastructure care and maintenance. Our training includes primary and manual learning, as well as interactive, hands-on education. Staff are taught course operations, safety and technical skills, emergency planning and proper maintenance techniques.
Maintenance.
Regular maintenance and safety inspections are predominant to providing long term safety. We offer continuous site maintenance, conducting safety inspections of your equipment and infrastructure, as well as tree health. We also provide regular testing and re-certification for Sky Rangers. We recommend conducting maintenance and Sky Ranger re-certification quarterly.
Project Management.
We provide any of the above services individually or combined. When partnering throughout the entire project process, we also provide full project management capabilities. We work closely with your team any any relevant third-party partners (i.e. architects, designers, marketing firms, etc.) throughout the project duration, hosting regular meetings with staff and using digital PM tools to help prioritize project needs and deliver both on time and on budget.
